Day 1: Departure for Tbilisi

Early in the morning arrive in Tbilisi, meet in the airport and transfer to a hotel.

Day 2: Tbilisi

After late breakfast Tbilisi sightseeing tour. During the tour we take you to the places that will show you old city. You can take a glance to the history of the city from early centuries by walking in narrow streets of the city and exploring the religious and secular architecture. Here you find different religious buildings – churches, synagogues, mosques, as well as famous 19th century houses with wooden multi-colored balconies. Then we drive up to get a panoramic view of the whole city and walk down to the Narikala Fortress (4th century). You will visit the sulfur bath district. Afterwards we discover the stunning treasury of the Georgian historical museum, before taking a stroll along Rustaveli Avenue – the main street in Tbilisi.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Kvareli – Tsinandali – Tbilisi

In the morning we start exploring Kakheti region well known for its wine producing. We enjoy superb views of Great Caucasus Mountains and valleys of Kakheti, acknowledge traditions and culture of the country and region, taste wines and delicious food.

First we drive to visit a farmer’s house to see a unique 300 year-old wine-cellar. You get acquainted with the Georgian way of wine-making, quite different from the European one and drink typical Georgian wines. Here we’ll have a lunch as well with homemade delicious food. One more wine tasting in a wine-factory in Kvareli. Then drive to visit a local Duke Alexander Chavchavadze`s estate in Tsinandali with its beautiful garden. The park and the house used to be the gathering place of all poets and artists of the 19th century. Drive back to Tbilisi.

Day 4: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Gori – Gudauri

Today we visit the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia – Mtskheta and see its historical places: Jvari Monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) where the Robe of Christ is buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Drive along the Great Silk Road to the town of Gori. Near Gori visit Uplistsikhe Cave Town (1st millennium BC) – one of the main points on the great east-west trade route. Once a flourishing city now offers a walk among the ancient streets, rock-carved theatre, royal halls and pharmacy, while the remains of granaries and large clay wine vessels give us some clue as to the daily life of the inhabitants.Then we drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway, en route visiting the Ananuri complex (17th century). The drive is very scenic as it heads up into the Great Caucasus Mountains.

Overnight in Gudauri Ski Resort (2200m).

Day 5: Gudauri – Stepantsminda – Tbilisi

A stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Stepantsminda – the main town in the region. From there we walk up for 2 hrs through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2175 m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt. Kazbegi (5047 m). In the late afternoon drive to Tbilisi.

Day 6: Departure

Transfer to the airport.
